Timeline of Dogra Rule in Kashmir

The Dogra dynasty was established by Gulab Singh following the Treaty of Amritsar in 1846, often called the 'Sale Deed of Kashmir' in which whole region of JK was sold by British Raj for just ₨ 75 lakh. Dogra Rule unified whole region of J&K but is known for Begari Sytem where peasents worked as forced unpaid slaves for Zamindars, they later revolted under Sheikh Abdullah leading to integration of J&K into the Dominion of India in 1947. J&K became one of only 2 states in India which freed tenants from Begari, and granted them land ownership under Sheikh
