List of New Ramsar Sites in India 2026

India has significantly expanded its conservation network, with the total number of Ramsar sites crossing 94. The Sundarbans in West Bengal remains the largest site by area. Important wetland sites in Jammu & Kashmir like Wular Lake, Hokera, and Surinsar-Mansar are critical for migratory birds. Under the Montreux Record, only two Indian sites are currently listed: Keoladeo National Park (Rajasthan) and Loktak Lake (Manipur).
