Key Provisions J&K Reorganization Act 2019

This historic Act bifurcated the state of Jammu & Kashmir into two Union Territories: J&K (with legislature) and Ladakh (without legislature). Section 57 of the Act effectively abolishes the Legislative Council. The total number of seats in the J&K Legislative Assembly was increased from 107 to 114 after the delimitation commission's report. The High Court remains the common judicial authority for both UTs.
